6 Spider Scrolls And Their Variants In Skyrim

Spider Scrolls can be useful for Skyrim gamers if they know the right recipes.

One of the more unique things added in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was spider scrolls. Despite the fact that they are classified as scrolls, they are not scrolls at all, but rather real spiders that players can endow with magical properties and then throw at their foes. It’s a somewhat narrow aspect of the game, but they make for some interesting and unusual builds and can completely change the way the game is played. Knowing what they accomplish and how to make them is therefore essential for anyone who wants to incorporate them into their design.

Thrown spiders have no time restriction and do not count towards the summoning limit, thus they will stay until slain – and six can be summoned at once! Players must first locate the imbuing chamber in White Ridge Barrow, a Nordic ruin plagued with spiders and a group of reavers attempting to subjugate them, in order to create any form of spider scroll. Once cleaned, the ruin never respawns, therefore it’s safe to convert it into a player home and store stuff there. Players can transform albino spider pods into a variety of formidable spider companions by using the imbuing chamber.

Frost Spiders

Frost Spiders

Ingredients required: Sapphire/Flawless Sapphire, Albino Spider Pods, Salt Pile

There are three types of frost spiders: exploding frost spiders, frost-cloaked spiders, and jumping frost spiders. In the imbuing chamber on Solstheim, combining a sapphire with an albino spider pod creates three spiders that will leap at an enemy and explode on impact, dealing massive amounts of frost damage to anyone nearby. When a damaged albino spider pod is joined with a sapphire, it produces dead frost spiders that can be used as runes, exploding if an enemy approaches.

Players can construct a spider that will not destroy itself and will instead accompany the player until it is killed by combining a salt pile with the recipe for jumping frost spiders. This spider will attack and harm foes with its ice cloak.

Shock Spiders

Shock Spiders

Ingredients required: Amethyst/Flawless Amethyst, Albino Spider Pods, Salt Pile

Shock spiders are also available in explosive, jumping, and shrouded forms, which are made in the same way as frost spiders but with amethysts instead of sapphires. An exploding shock spider is created by a broken albino spider pod and an amethyst; a jumping shock spider is created by an albino spider pod and an amethyst; and shock-cloaked spiders are created by same recipe plus a salt pile.

Because these spiders deal shock damage, they would be most effective against mages, as shock causes both Health and Magicka to be depleted.

Flame Spiders

Flame Spiders

Ingredients required: Ruby/Flawless Ruby, Albino Spider Pods, Salt Pile

Due to their fire damage, flame spiders work wonders against a wide range of enemies, particularly the undead. Players can make any of the three flaming spider variations by filling an imbuing station with the necessary materials for an elemental spider – utilizing a ruby or flawless ruby as the gem.

When exploring undead-infested dungeons, having a few of these spiders on hand could be a lifesaver. Just make sure there aren’t any followers around when these things go off!

Poison Spiders

Poison Spiders

Ingredients required: Emerald/Flawless Emerald, Albino Spider Pods, Salt Pile

The three poison spider variations (jumping, exploding, and cloaked), created in the same fashion as elemental spiders, but with an emerald, are good choices to use against strongly armored or magic-resistant enemies, as poison damage is unaffected by either.

Some enemies, however, are immune to poison (such as vampires) or have a partial resistance to it (Argonians and Bosmer), so a different type of spider would be more effective against them.

Mind Control Spiders

Mind Control Spiders

Ingredients: Any type of Soul Gem, Albino Spider Pods

In Penalty Kick Online game, there is only one sort of mind-control spider, and unlike the others, it does not spawn an actual creature. Instead, it fires a spider at a living enemy, which sticks to whoever it lands on for 30 seconds before becoming buddies and fighting alongside the player.

It functions similarly to the Illusion spell Fury, except that the victim is no longer hostile to the player for the length of the spell, and it works on adversaries of any level. A fantastic weapon for dealing with big groups of foes.

Oil Spiders

Oil Spiders

Ingredients: Dwarven Oil, Albino Spider Pods

When threatened, this spider will exude a flammable oil, which the player can then light (possibly with a flame spider!) to set any standing in the puddle ablaze.

It’s not the most powerful spider, but Dwarven oil is plentiful in Dwemer ruins and quicker to obtain than the jewels required for elemental spiders, so possessing a handful (literally) of them wouldn’t damage – at least not the player.

It’s worth noting that if you use a flawless gem to manufacture the flame, ice, shock, or poison spiders, you’ll get six spiders instead of three. As a result, finishing “No Stone Unturned” can actually maximize the number of spiders that players can create. Each of these spiders serves a specific purpose, thus it’s a good idea for players to bring multiples of each type to accommodate the many scenarios they’re likely to experience on their Skyrim journey.

Skyrim is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch.
